Day One of Our Captivity

Because 2 jobs and 4 school-aged children just aren't stimulating enough for us, apparently, Steve and I embarked upon planning an extensive home re-model project to coincide with a multi-stop 4,500-mile cross-country RV trip over the next 2 weeks. Today is Day #1.

Murphy's Law went into full over-drive for the entire 2-week period preceding our departure so, without going into all of the murky details, suffice it to say that 2:am - 6:am has been my standard window for sleeping for more nights than I care to officially acknowledge. As a result, our start today was, of course, was late (we left at 12:noon). But the ecstatically happy voices of our very well-rested children abound. There's just something about the idea of co-existing in a large rolling shoe box that you can eat, play, watch tv, walk around and pee in while in motion that particularly appeals to the 12-and-unders, isn't there?

So anyway, throughout the planning of this great adventure, we have been encouraged by all of our dear friends and family who have instead opted for the more civilized route of planning relaxed beach vacations, or the like, to blog about this summer vacation trip. And so I shall.... stay tuned!
